Fish Oil Facts

Believe it or not, oil from fatty fish such as salmon, tuna and mackerel can protect you against heart disease, stimulate brain health, serve as a potent anti-inflammatory and provide a long list of other health benefits.

The Fish Oil FactsHow’s that possible? It’s because the fish oil contains Omega 3 fatty acids – good fats! – and they work the health wonders.

But here’s the scary part: Most of our diets are woefully deficient of essential Omega 3 fatty acids, leaving us vulnerable to all sorts of maladies.

If you don’t eat cold water fatty fish at least twice a week, or eat walnuts or flaxseed regularly, or have some other source of Omega 3s such as a pure, fresh supplement, you are probably one of the people in danger.

If you’re not actually in danger, you are at least missing out on the incredible health benefits that fish oil offers.

Listen to my story and learn some of the things I’ve learned about this incredible, almost magical, supplement. Then decide for yourself whether it should be part of your diet.

I Didn’t Even Know What Cholesterol Was!

Here’s what turned me into a raging advocate for the benefits of fish oil . . .

I was about 40, healthy and in good shape. At least that’s what I thought until I went to a doctor for a routine physical. Wham! My blood test showed that my cholesterol was way too high. I was headed for a heart attack if I didn’t do something about it.

At the time, I didn’t even know what cholesterol was. I mean, I didn’t know any details. I just knew it was bad, that it was a risk factor for heart disease.

I knew I had to make some changes, and fast.

But I didn’t like my doctor’s predictable suggestion that I take a cholesterol-lowering drug. All drugs have side effects. So, if possible, I wanted a natural remedy for my cholesterol problem.

Here’s what I did . . .

I increased my exercise, cleaned up my diet and began taking a fish oil supplement.

And, viola! It wasn’t very long until my cholesterol and triglycerides were normal and I was considered a low risk for heart disease.

More than that, I felt great! Better than I’d ever felt.

Fast forward . . .

It’s now years later, and I’m still exercising, eating well and taking a fish oil supplement. And my heart is still super healthy and I still feel great virtually all the time. (I sometimes think it ought to be illegal to feel this good!)

I believe that my healthy lifestyle and the supplements I take, especially the fish oil, give me the high energy, bounce-in-my-step, go-hard-all-day way of life that I enjoy.

And I truly believe you can have the same results.

I Intend To Take A Fish Oil Supplement Every Day As Long As I Live

The Fish Oil FactsOver the years, I’ve learned quite a bit about fish oil, both through experience and by researching it. And . .

In my opinion, fish oil capsules are the closest thing there is to a super supplement.

Of course, fish oil is beneficial for heart health. It . . .

  • increases HDL (good) cholesterol
  • decreases triglycerides (blood fats)
  • lowers blood pressure somewhat
  • for people who have had heart attacks, lowers the risk of death or stroke and lowers the risk of abnormal heart rhythms.
  • prevents and treats atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).

The heart health benefits have been summarized this way by the American Heart Association: “Omega 3 fatty acids benefit the heart of healthy people, and those at high risk of – or who have – cardiovascular disease.

This is why I started taking fish oil and why I will always take fish oil pills.

But there is solid research proving more benefits from taking fish oil capsules, such as these . . .

But, wait, there’s more! (I always wanted to say that.)

Everything I have told you so far is rock solid. No one who has studied fish oil or Omega 3 fatty acids would disagree with any of it.

Studies have shown that there is a long list of other medical problems that benefit from fish oil. However, the scientific proof is not yet sufficient. In some instances, there have not been enough studies, or the studies that have been done are too limited or not scientifically rigorous enough. Or there have been inconsistent results between studies.

However, while more research in these areas is needed, based on the existing research, there are millions of people around the world currently using fish oil for these problems, too . . .
